World Series Teams
Some teams get to the World Series and you know that they are going to win it all. Like the 1927, and 1961 Yankees. The Red Sox of 2004 and the Reds from the Big Red Machine days are a few other teams where I felt that their destiny was secure before the series started. Some teams are so strong that they win four games to none. The Yankees have done it seven times. The Giants are next closest in four games to none series wins with two sweeps to their credit. By contrast the Yankees have been swept three times, the most of any team. With the A's, Cubs and Cardinals all being winless in series play twice.
The test for a playoff team is winning in seven games. The last game of the post season is at hand and there are NO second chances. In seven game series the team with the most wins is not the Yankees. It's the St Louis Cardinals with seven wins followed by the Yankees with five victories. Many teams have won seven game series twice. The Twins, Dodgers, Pirates, Tigers, and A's make up that impressive list. On the losing end the Yankees head the list with five losses. They are followed by The Giants with four seven game losses, The Dodgers, Cardinals, Tigers and Red Sox with three losses each are next.
Of the 39 World Series the Yankees have been in 10 times the series ended in four games. Eleven times the series ended in seven games.
The St Louis Cardinals have seen the World Series 16 times. Seven times they won in seven games and three times they lost in seven games. They were also swept two times.
The A's of Philadelphia, Kansas City and Oakland have a combined 9-6 winning record when it comes to World Series play. Second to the Yankees 26-13 record. On the other end of the spectrum the Dodgers are 6-16 and the Giants are 5-15.
The teams that have gone the longest without winning a World Series are The Indians (last won in 1948) and The Giants. They have been without a Series trophy since 1954. Did I forget the Cubs? 1908 was their last World Series triumph. That's' 98 years ago.
The Rangers, Mariners, Nationals (Expos), and Rockies have yet to make the fall classic. While The Padres, Brewers and Astros have been to the Series, they have yet to drink the champagne for being World Series Champs.
Also of note is that the Red Sox were World Champs five times from 1903 to 1918. During that 16 year period, (there was no World
Series in 1904) the five wins by the Sox, established the Bostonians as one of baseball's initial dynasties.

PurePoint Golf Tips for Posture and How to Improve Your Golf Game with Driver Posture
Copyright 2006 David Nevogt
When you go out and play golf, do you consistently hit the ball fat? How many times do you hit the ball thin?
I believe it has a lot to do with your posture. There have been a lot of golf tips written on posture, but let me give it to you real quick, real simple, and I guarantee these golf tips will help you the next time you're out.
If you tend to hit the ball fat and hit the ground behind the ball, there is a chance you might be bent over a little too much. If I try to hit the golf ball while you're bent over too much, you will run into the ground, way behind it.
Here are a few golf tips to help you. Instead, at address, simply lift your chin up a little bit, and that will help you swing the golf club back into the golf ball where you'll hit the ball first and then the ground.
If you tend to hit a lot of thins and tops, there's a chance you might be standing a little too tall. When you come back into the back of the ball, you constantly run over the top of it, or you hit it thin and you blade it.
Take these golf tips with you the next time you go play. Also, feel that your knees are slightly flexed, and from the two bones on each side of your hips, just bend over a little bit.
I guarantee you that these golf tips will help you stop from hitting the ground behind it or topping it, whatever the mistake is that you make.
Now I'm going to explain something to you that I think will help you improve your golf game, especially if you're trying to become more consistent driving the golf ball.
I'm 5' 7", maybe 5' 8" tall. And when I address the golf ball, because I have bent my knees slightly and have bent forward, I would then say I was probably 5 feet tall, maybe 5'1" or 5'2". But you get the idea.
After I have slightly bent my knees and I have bent from the waist forward, I'm now 5 feet off the ground.
I'm 5 feet tall, and as the club starts back, I'm still 5 feet tall. As the club starts back even further, and continues back, I'm 5 feet tall.
Now, as my right shoulder turns and I start to move some weight over to the right side, I am still 5 feet tall. At the top of the backswing I'm 5 feet tall. And now I start my arms and hands down, as my right elbow starts to straighten up, I'm still 5 feet tall.
Now I'm getting closer to impact, but I'm still 5 feet tall. And then I'm at impact and I'm 5 feet tall. The speed of my arms and hands and the golf club on the end of it is now going to start to pull me around a little bit.
And then and only then do I start to come out of my posture a little bit and I get back to where I'm 5' 8".
After the address and I'm all ready to swing, I'm going to maintain my height until the golf club pulls me around.
Try that the next time out and I guarantee you this will help improve your golf game.

An Overview of Olympic Archery
Archery first appeared as a sport in the Olympic games in Paris in 1904, 1908, and 1920. Because no formal rules were developed for the game, each country developed their own format. The Federation Internationale de Tir a l'Arc (FITA) was founded in 1931 and created standardized rules for competition. At first, there were only individual competitions held, but 1988 team competitions began being held.
There are four different archery events held at the Olympics: Men's Individual, Women's Individual, Men's Team and Women's Team. Archers used to shoot a double FITA round of 288 total arrows, with the championship decided by the highest total score. In an effort to make the sport more exciting, the format was changed to head-to-head elimination for the top 64 competitors beginning with the 1992 Olympics.
Individual Competition:
The format of the men's and women's individual competition is the same and consists of a ranking round followed by the FITA Olympics round.
In the ranking round, archers shoot 72 arrows at a target 70 meters (229 feet, 8 inches) away in 12 ends of six arrows each. A perfect score is 720.
The same set of shots is used to seed teams for the team competitions.
The FITA Olympic round is divided into the elimination round and the finals round.
The 64 competitors, seeded from the ranking round, advance to the elimination round, a single-elimination, head-to-head style of competition (seed No. 64 vs. seed No. 1, 63 vs. 2, etc).
Six ends of three arrows -- for a total of 18 -- are shot at a target 70 meters away with a 40-second time limit per arrow.
Team Competition
The format of the men's and women's team competition is the same and consists of the ranking round, followed by the FITA Olympic round.
In the ranking round, archers shoot 72 arrows at a target 70 meters (229 feet, 8 inches) away in 12 ends of six arrows each. A perfect score is 720.
The same set of shots is used to seed competitors in the individual competitions as well.
In the men's and women's competitions, the top 16 teams -- seeded from the ranking round -- are selected using scores from the ranking round.
If there are less than 16 teams, the top teams will be given byes.
Each team consists of three archers.
In all matches in the team event, each team shoots three ends of nine arrows each with each archer on the team shooting one end.
Each of the three archers is required to finish their end within three minutes.
Only one archer of the team shoots at a time.
When the first archer finishes shooting his end, the second archer starts. The third shooter follows the second one.
The arrows are scored and pulled after each team shoots nine arrows.
The winners of each match move to the next round.
The first round or eighth-finals consists of 16 teams on the line shooting in eight matches.
The second round or quarterfinals consists of the eight winning teams shooting at the same time in four matches.
In the semifinal round, the four winning teams meet.
The losers of the semifinals shoot for the bronze medal.
The winners shoot for the gold.
If tied, each archer from each team shoots one arrow.
The closest of the three arrows to the center for each team
will be compared to the closest-to-the-center arrow of the other team to break the tie.
Only one archer from each team shoots at a time.
